Description
Our Max-Flow, Max-Consistency Intake for M157 / M278
When heat soak and stock snorkels hold you back, this kit fixes both: sealed airboxes keep heat out and front inlets deliver cool, high-velocity air from the grille area for repeatable pulls and stronger mid-to-top performance.
- Lower IATs vs. stock and open filters in traffic/hot weather
- Better pressure recovery at speed from true front inlets
- Faster spool, cleaner torque delivery, and smoother WOT upshifts
- ECU/TCU tune friendly—lets your calibrations put power to the ground
Front Inlets
Sealed Airboxes
Lower IATs
Plug-and-Play
Support Included
Choose this if you want:
- Back-to-back pull logs: steadier IATs vs. open filters
- Heat protection in traffic where there is little air flow
- Max effort runs
What’s in the Box
- Pair of sealed intake boxes tailored to M157/M278 bay geometry
- Smooth intake tubes (PC or PET-CF) with bell-mouth velocity profiles
- Front inlet ducts with brackets/couplers to mate to the boxes
- Serviceable high-flow filters (brand/part no. listed below if available)
- MAP sensor extender/mount for stable readings at higher mass flow
- All clamps, seals, and hardware for a clean, reversible install
Fitment
Engine families: M157 (E63/CLS63/…) and M278 (E550/CLS550/…). If unsure, add your VIN in Order Notes and we’ll confirm prior to shipping. Other makes may be possible but would require on site fabrication time of approximately 2 days and may be subject to a material deposit placed that will be used against final installed price. Install is free with purchase.
Install & Time
- Remove factory boxes/snorkels (no permanent cuts required).
- Position front inlets to the grille area using supplied brackets; verify clearances.
- Install sealed boxes, transfer the MAP sensor to the mount/extension.
- Fit tubes/filters, connect inlets to boxes, tighten all clamps, and test drive.
We can text, hop on a call, or remote session if you want guidance during install.
Technical Notes
- Pressure recovery: front inlets reduce inlet depression at speed, improving compressor efficiency and repeatability.
- Heat control: sealed boxes limit radiant and fan-wash heat; expect more consistent timing and less power drop after repeated pulls.
- Materials: tubes are Core-XY printed in PC or PET-CF, PAHT-GF, PAHT-CF for strength/temperature tolerance (finish may show functional print texture).
- Sensor strategy: MAP extender keeps the sensor in representative flow to avoid under-read at high mass flow rates.
Compare Your Options
| Kit | Best For | IAT Control | Sound | Install |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Open Intakes | Max sound, simple install | Good (moving), Fair (heat soak) | Loudest | Easiest |
| Sealed Boxes | Daily drivers, hot climates | Better | Balanced | Easy |
| Full Sealed + Inlets (this page) | Max performance & repeatability | Best | Subtle | Moderate |
What to Expect After Install
- Immediate change in response and intake sound under throttle
- ECU will adapt trims; an ECU tune maximizes airflow gains
- Pair with our TCU tune to keep shifts crisp at added torque
FAQ
Is water a concern with front inlets?
Normal rain driving is fine. Avoid deep standing water and pressure-washing directly into the inlet mouths.
Do I need an ECU tune?
Not required to run, but recommended to fully utilize added flow and stabilize fueling at higher RPM.
Service & maintenance?
Service filters per manufacturer interval; inspect clamps/couplers at oil-change intervals.
Policies & Notes
No emissions defeat is provided or implied. Performance parts may affect drivetrain wear and dealer warranty. Our liability is limited to the transaction amount.

There are some reports of a low vacuum at WOT P1CE7 or P1CE6. This error only sets on wide open throttle and will reset after several drives of not hitting WOT. It will also not affect performance at all. A tune designed to work with air intakes is recommended but this code isn’t one that the engine isn’t performing but there is more air being let in than the calibration expects at WOT.
