TunedMercedes began by publishing calibration training content using HPTuners, focusing on the actual science and art of tuning rather than simply reading and writing files.
At the time, this was a relatively underserved area of the industry. Most tuners and file services focused primarily on extracting and flashing files, while the calibration itself was often sourced from a database of pre-built tunes matched to the stock binary.
Long before we sold directly to retail customers, we were providing custom calibrations to tuning shops and professional installers. During that time, we noticed a significant gap in the market. Many file services focused on distributing pre-calibrated files, but relatively few focused on the calibration process itself.
Today, that gap continues to exist and, in many cases, is growing wider.
Modern Mercedes-Benz calibrations have become increasingly complex. Rather than relying solely on traditional maps and tables, many strategies involve extensive interaction between functions, torque models, sound management systems, and numerous control layers. As a result, both pre-calibrated service files and many custom tuners struggle to consistently deliver the sound characteristics, drivability, and performance customers are seeking.
A Calibration-First Approach
Our approach is different.
We extensively test on our own vehicles as well as client vehicles to develop calibration strategies that produce predictable and repeatable results. While we are capable of tuning many Bosch-equipped vehicles, Mercedes-Benz remains one of our primary areas of expertise.
For example, we regularly utilize Mercedes-Benz Sound Overrun Torque Reduction (SOTR) strategies to create custom exhaust behavior tailored to the customer’s goals. This allows us to adjust:
- Pop and bang intensity
- Volume
- Frequency
- RPM operating areas
- Driving mode behavior
- Overall sound character
The result is a calibration that is built around what the customer actually wants rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.
Beyond Stage 1 Tuning
While we can certainly provide Stage 1 calibrations, our strengths become especially apparent when projects move beyond simple bolt-on modifications.
We routinely work with:
- Larger turbocharger upgrades
- Supercharger upgrades
- Custom forced induction conversions
- Naturally aspirated vehicles receiving boost
- Complex fueling and airflow modifications
- Specialized drivability and sound calibration requests
Because every file is custom calibrated, our service is often best suited for customers who require something beyond a standard off-the-shelf tune.
The New File Service Portal
Although our file service has existed for years, we have now launched a dedicated File Service Portal to streamline the process.
The portal includes:
- File uploads
- Integrated commenting
- Email notifications
- Revision tracking
- Project communication in a single location
Simply upload your file through the portal and provide relevant information such as:
- Vehicle information
- ECU type
- VIN
- Read tool used
- Hardware modifications
- Desired outcome
We will review the project and return a custom-calibrated file based on your specific requirements.
Important Notes
While we are happy to provide Stage 1 calibrations, customers should understand that our pricing reflects the fact that we custom calibrate each file rather than supplying a database tune.
We do not provide emissions defeats or remove emissions-related systems on road-going vehicles.
