Thoughts on 3D printing versus carbon fiber and AI in ICE

3D printing improves by leaps and bounds.  While still lagging behind cast and milled metal and carbon fiber eventually these gaps are going to be very narrow across the board.  3D printing allows the creation of items in ways which traditional manufacturing is unable to replicate and therefore we may see a time where AI is designing internal engine components like connecting rods which are printed.
