Right now we are using a nicely equipped 2 car home garage and upgrading it for servicing cars and building vtol. We recently went out and ordered a mid-rise scissor lift for this purpose. Today I’m announcing from convertible-gift we are upgrading the garage to being fully heated and ac cooled.
We went with a mini-split system because they are extremely efficient and can be installed DIY, which I plan to do. This sort of system will help us be more productive and increase comfort.
At the same time we are likely moving printing and customer lounge inside. I can see perhaps keeping a few chairs and a tv in the garage, and printing wise I may keep printing outside but for now the plan is to maximize garage space and turn it into a true two car bay garage and potentially using the current dining room for this purpose.
I may hire a MB tech who has reached out to me in the past to help move cars through the garage and get people out the door. Of course it would be nice to eventually move to a bigger more formal area for business but at this point it maximizes our ability to make a profit in terms of costs and current demand. In fact there is even a third floor I sometimes think of building out to increase production space but I believe at that point it is likely better to move into a commercial building, ideally near water and with some room to take times.
