What does a TCU tune feel like?

A TCU tune main impact isn’t in the adjusting of how a transmission shifts but in the overall performance of a vehicle from a dig.  The reason isn’t that it doesn’t affect the shifting, it is more that the removal of torque limiters not only allow more power to be productive to the wheels by not asking the ECU for torque reduction, even in times with challenging traction.  For example when a stock TCU tune file would result in significant torque being cut while wheels slippage from a launch, a calibrated TCU may allow that power to continue and not be limited in this way or by specific gearing.

Another benefit is supporting mod for additional power from the ECU.  At some points when you add power it can actually cause issues between the TCU rejecting so much that the car actually gets slower, in this case a TCU tune for Mercedes or even a Mercedes AMG can fix that.  This happened to me, pre-TCU tune and a few people I know who added some power and actually got slower times, in terms of WMI etc.  This happens more often on the non AMG cars, but they are not exempt.  A TCU tune will unlock a lot from a 4matic.

One client reported that the car has “much more torque in 1st and 2nd”, another that the car “feels lighter and faster”, and another that he “definitely noticed a difference but don’t know how to describe it”.  A final recent client said they “really love the TCU tune”.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all my clients who help support TunedMercedes.
