C 205 Front Anti Roll Bar Link Replacement

In this video and write up we will talk about the process of replacing the front anti sway bar links on a C 205 Mercedes.  In this case a C63 AMG.

The process seems very straightforward, in true Mercedes fashion it isn’t but it is sort of ok to work on.

Some people may opt to do this step with also changing the lower control arm.

The first step after lifting the car will be to loosen the top bolt with a 21mm ratchet, wood block, and a hammer.  Loosen the bottom 21mm bolt. I would keep the wheels on as mentioned above.

Next there will be another 21mm and 24mm shock bolt.  these need to be taken all the way out.  Some people suggest loosening the strut mount bolts as well.

Once out push the top bolt out on the link and then take off the lower bolt and put on the matching direction new piece.  It is always good to examine the pieces coming off the car with the new pieces.

At this point you can either torque everything to approximately 65-85nm (except the strut mounts, those are not as tight as you may imagine) use star set to relieve stress on the ball joint on the   It would be best practice to torque at the ride height, potentially by measuring and then lifting the wheel while on the lift then torquing.

The car should feel a bit tighter around turns and feel more planted.  Some clunking may also be addressed with this.
