While there are many people who are better at this I thought I would provide some ideas on how to design air intakes and other items.
The first is to mock up things using old school techniques, cardboard, measuring tape, pen and paper.
Then you can start to move to rough fitment with PLA. After this it is good to print and slice just the complex parts like connectors to ensure they fit well.
Then one last rough print with PLA and then on to production filaments.
