- Fresh and cold plugs prevent misfires and spark blowout under load
- Change every 35,000 miles tuned or 50,000 miles stock
- Replicate factory wire run and torque to 17 pound feet
Common questions for M177 plugs
Do I need one-step-colder plugs on a stock M177?
Not required for stock boost. We recommend colder plugs once tuned or when running ethanol blends.
What gap should I run?
For tuned setups, we typically suggest around 0.026–0.028″.
What torque spec should I use?
~23 Nm (17 lb-ft) is typical for M177 spark plugs. Always confirm against your specific service WIS. This is important for indexing the spark plug in the combustion chamber.
Should I use anti-seize?
Most NGK plugs have nickel-coated threads; use a very thin film if at all to avoid over-torque. Torque on clean, cool threads. Always use die-electric grease on boot and ceramic insulator.
Replacement interval?
Tuned: ~35k miles depending on use/fuel. Stock: ~50k miles. Inspect earlier if you see misfires under load. Also consider checking your coils which may have automatically extended MB warranty coverage.
